Pre-existing medical conditions cover

You can get cover for pre-existing medical conditions with AXA travel insurance. Their advanced online medical screening allows you to declare any medical conditions you have quickly and confidentiality without having to make a call. AXA covers many medical conditions at no extra charge. After answering a few simple questions, you will be able to purchase a tailor-made policy that covers your medical condition in minutes.

Sports and activities cover

If you want to participate in something a little more adventurous on your holiday, AXA covers 70 sports and activities for free, including bungee jumping, jet skiing and zorbing. Or if you’re looking to experience something even more daring, you can take a look at the long list of other sports and activities that AXA cover for an additional cost.

Winter sports cover

AXA’s winter sports insurance provides cover for lost or damaged ski equipment and covers any costs associated with cancelling or cutting short your trip. It also covers the cost of your unused ski packs, including ski school fees, lift passes and hire cost for ski equipment. Plus, if your ski resort closes due to lack of or too much snow, or an avalanche, AXA will give you £20 per day (£100 in total) for you to travel to an alternative ski resort.

Managing your AXA travel insurance policy & making a claim

AXA understands how important it is to be able to contact them if you’re abroad and need assistance. When you take out an AXA travel insurance policy, you’ll have online access to your secure personal account. So no matter where you are in the world, you can find all of your policy details online in seconds. Logging into your AXA account allows you to:

  • View or print your policy documents
  • Check your level of cover
  • Have instant access to emergency helpline numbers

AXA travel insurance customers also have the ability to make a claim online. Making a claim is simple, you’ll need:

  • Your personal details & policy number (you can view your policy no. on your AXA account)
  • Details about your claim, for example, the flight number and name of your airline
  • Details of any supporting evidence you want to send AXA, for example, a medical report or receipts

When you make a claim, either online or by calling AXA, they will quickly record and assess your claim. If you have all the relevant details listed above to hand, the process will be much quicker. If you choose to make a claim online, a member of AXA’s specialist team will follow up your claim via phone or email to get the process started. It’s worth noting that if you register your claim on a weekend, it won’t be followed up until the next working day. AXA will do their best to process your claim and resolve it for you as quickly as possible.

Between May 2018 to April 2019, AXA paid over 94.2% of customers’ travel insurance claims. 1.9% of their travel insurance policyholders made a claim in this period, with an average claim pay out of £855.

Cancellation and refunds

If you want to cancel your travel insurance policy, you can contact AXA on 0330 024 1307.

Lines are open Monday to Friday: 8am-8pm
Saturday: 9am-5pm
Sunday: 9am-4pm

If you want to cancel your annual multi-trip policy or single trip policy, you can do so within 14 days of taking out the policy. This essentially means that AXA did not provide you with travel insurance. Your payment will be refunded in full and it is your statutory right to cancel. However, AXA does not offer any refunds for cancelling annual multi-trip policies after 14 days and they also don’t offer refunds for single trip policies after the start date.

Automatic renewals

If you have an annual travel insurance policy with AXA, they’ll send you an email reminder when the policy is up for renewal. This will give you time to review your cover, review your renewal price and check that all details, like your medical conditions, are correct and up to date. If you don’t get in touch with AXA before the renewal date, your policy will automatically renew and payment will be taken via your previous payment method.
